Middlesex County Roofer

January 25, 2020 By sammyb

If you’re a homeowner, having a reliable Middlesex County roofer to call when you need one is a good idea. Roofing work is something that needs to be handled ASAP when it comes up. It also needs to be done well or it won’t last. When you’re looking for a good roofer for your home, there are a few tips to try and sift through all of the possible contractors out there. Here are a few things to keep in mind as you search for a professional roofer for your home.

Best Middlesex County Roofer

Choosing the Right Middlesex County Roofer

  • Ask Around – By far the best way to get unbiased opinions about a roofers work is by asking people you know. A billboard or commercial is an advertisement paid for by the company, so of course they’ll talk themselves up! If you ask a friend or family member, they would have no reason to lie to you about the results. You also will have the ability to go and see their work for yourself. Remember, if you’re going to be putting a bit of money into a Middlesex County roofer, you want to be sure you’re getting top-notch work.
  • Get Estimates – Many people make the mistake of just getting one or two estimates and choosing the cheaper one. Many contractors offer free estimates for your roofing job. You should try and get several estimates that you can compare together. It’s easier to remove any outliers that way and choose a fair price for the work. It’s also important that you don’t just go with the lowest estimate you receive. Often times a lower price means lower quality work.
  • Communicate – When it comes to contacting a contractor, communication is a major factor. Chances are you’re hiring a contractor because you don’t know how to do the job yourself. You need to make sure they’re communicating everything that’s going on and not trying to take advantage of your lack of knowledge on the subject. If they seem to be dodging questions about the work they’re doing, you have good reason to be concerned.

Spring can many times bring strong storms that can pound away at your roof. Things a North Brunswick roofing contractor would recommend to be checked:

  • Check downspout exits to make sure they haven’t been damaged.
  • Inspect and clear debris from rooftop gutters and header boxes.
  • Check and clear debris from scuppers.
  • Clear internal gutters.
  • Inspect and clear weep holes around rooftop windows and skylights.
  • Make sure rooftop units and PV penetrations are secure and watertight.
  • Remove leaves and debris from the rooftop.
  • Check to see if the roof appears unusually sunken or if water is accumulating anywhere.
  • Inspect the roof for signs of weathering, loose or wrinkled membrane, missing ballast and loose seams.
  • Check the property surrounding the building for tall trees with dead limbs. (they can fall onto your roof)

Kendall Park NJ Common Roofing Questions

January 23, 2015 By sammyb

There are a lot of questions that a roof owner may have in the Kendall Park NJ area. Today, we decided to answer a few of the most commonly asked ones:

Kendall Park NJ Roofing Q & A

Kendall-Park-NJ-Roofer

  • There is no roofing felt under the shingles. Is this the right way to install them?

No. Unless it’s an overlay, there should be felt separating the roofing materials and the deck. Many times people will do it the wrong way to save money. The felt acts as a vapor barrier between the roof deck and the shingles, is a waterproofing element of the roof, and prevents the wood deck from sucking up oils from the asphalt shingles.

  • How much longer will a metal roof last than more common roofing materials like asphalt or wood shingle?

A metal roof will last at least 2 to 3 times longer than a regular roof. While asphalt roofs last usually 15-20 years if maintained, a metal roof will usually last 40 to as many as 60 years! Not only that, metal doesn’t decompose or deteriorate like wood and asphalt.

  • How often should I have my gutters cleaned?

It is recommended to clean your gutters at least twice a year. If you’ve got a bunch of trees that are close to your Kendall Park NJ roof, you should clean them 3-4 times annually.

  • Why does a roof need ventilation?

Ventilation helps reduce the heat in the attic during the summer months and helps decrease moisture buildup under your roof. This is important because it puts less wear and tear on your shingles and roof deck.

Biondo Contracting provides roof repairs, roof replacements, roof installations, and many more roofing services to the Central NJ area in towns such as East Brunswick, South Brunswick, Hillsborough, Bedminster, South Plainfield, Green Brook, Avenel, Somerset, Bridgewater, Highland Park, Kendall Park, Manalapan, Colts Neck, and many more. Call today for a free roofing estimate.

Nature Vs. Your Roof

December 8, 2014 By sammyb

There are quite a few things out there in nature that can pose a threat or nuisance to your Middlesex County NJ roof. It is important to know what they are so you can help prevent some of them from affecting your roof. While some natural threats such as weather can’t be prevented, there are other things that can be.

  • The Sun: The strong heat and ultraviolet rays during hotter months will over time cause deterioration more quickly in our climate.
  • Rain: When water gets underneath your roofing materials, it can work its way to the roof deck and cause the structure to rot.  This can cause  the growth of mildew and mold in other parts of the house, including walls, ceilings, insulation and electrical systems.
  • Wind:  Strong winds can lift shingle edges forcing water and debris under them as well as totally rip shingles off your roof.
  • Snow and Ice:  Melting snow often refreezes at the overhang of the roof where it is cooler forming ice dams.  This causes water to back up under the shingles and seep into the interior because it can’t be drained into the gutters.  Gutters and downspouts can fill with ice and tear away from the house do to the weight and can cause even more drainage problems.
  • Moss and Algae:  Moss can grow on moist shingles and shakes work its way into a wood deck and structure bringing moisture.  Algae grows in damp, shaded areas on the roof and makes a  black or green streak stain. It can also cause rot and deterioration over time if left untreated.  Trees and bushes should be trimmed away from homes to prevent additional damp areas, and gutters should be kept clean to ensure proper drainage.
  • Trees and leaves:  High winds can cause untrimmed branches to brush against the roof causing scratches and punctures. Heavy precipitations can cause branches and leaves to break off onto your roof. Keep branches trimmed and leaves out of your drainage system.

Biondo Contracting provides roof repairs, roof replacements, roof installations, and many more roofing services to the Central NJ area in towns such as East Brunswick, South Brunswick, Hillsborough, Bedminster, South Plainfield, Green Brook, Avenel, Somerset, Bridgewater, Highland Park, and many more. Call today for a free roofing estimate.

Monmouth Junction Roofer – Roofing Contractor In Montouth Junction

November 11, 2013 By sammyb

Monmouth Junction RooferAre you in the Monmouth Junction area and in need of a new roof? A big question that you may have is “what material should I choose?” You may want to talk to a Monmouth Junction Roofer about metal roofing. Its popularity has been rising due to its benefits. Here are some benefits of having a metal roof:

  • Metal roofs last longer and are more durable. Asphalt and other popular materials last 15-20 years and then need to be replaced. Metal roofing can last much longer because it doesn’t decompose and can withstand against crazy weather.

  • It’s a good long-term investment. Though up-front costs are more expensive than other materials, metal roofs don’t decompose overtime so repair costs will be much less and its all around value will be decent when trying to sell your Monmouth Junction home.

  • Metal roofs can come in almost any style you want. There are metal roofs that look like asphalt shingles, slate, tile, and shake. If you are unsure of what style best suits your home, you can just ask a Monmouth Junction roofer.

  • Metal roofs go green. Over half of metal roofing material is made from recycled content. It is also a great insulator which can decrease the amount of energy you use for heating and cooling.

Biondo Contracting is a company of expert Monmouth Junction roofers that serve towns all over Central NJ. They do work in towns such as Monmouth Junction, Piscataway, Edison, South Brunswick, East Brunswick, and many more. Call today for a Monmouth Junction free roofing estimate.
